Award Papers For NORC

Theme: - Impact of Research on Office Pediatric Practice.

Who are eligible:

Post-graduate students, Pediatric residents, Faculty members and Practicing Pediatricians may submit papers.

How many presentations:

5 oral presentations

How it will be judged:

3 independent judges, identified by the organizing committee, would evaluate the submitted papers. The average of marks scored will be used to select the best five presentations. Remaining papers shall be automatically given an opportunity to be presented as free poster.

Submission Deadline:

Papers must be submitted by 21 st July 2019, 11:59 pm. Papers not selected for oral presentation will be intimated by 28 th July 2019, 11:59 pm and given the option of poster presentation.

How to apply:

  1. Prepare a structured abstract with subheadings: Background, objectives, methods, results and conclusion. Word counts should not exceed 350 words. Abstract should not contain any tables, graphs, images or illustrations. Four authors (Presenter+3 co-authors) are allowed per paper.
  2. Clearly identify the person who will present the paper (will be the lead author and contact person by default) and the said person has to be a registered delegate at the Conference.

General rules:

  1. The delegates can submit papers with the core focus on any Pediatric sub- specialty/ General Pediatrics for the award (provided they meet the eligibility criteria). An individual can submit any number of papers. As only 5 papers are being given an opportunity for oral presentation, the remaining papers shall automatically get selected for poster presentation unless the author decides to the contrary and withdraws the paper in writing.
  2. All submissions will have two step assessment Step 1: All submissions will be scored objectively by three persons independently on the basis of (a) Relevance, (b) Methods, (c) Results, (d) Input by the presenting person and (e) Novelty. Average of scores given by three judges will be used to prepare a list and top five will be selected for presentation at the Conference. Step 2: Three independent judges during NORC 2019 will judge all shortlisted oral presentations. Assessment will be based on (a) Relevance, (b) Methods, (c) Results, (d) Discussion including answers to questions by the presenting person and (e) over all presentation including slides/ poster etc. Sum of scores given by three judges will be used to prepare list and top three persons will be granted 1 first and 2 second positions in award papers.
  3. Decision of the Jury shall be final and binding.

Guidelines for Posters

    (Limit to 10 poster presentations + 5 award papers: Total 15)

  1. The title of a poster should be exactly as it was written in your original submission for review.
  2. At the top of the poster there should be a banner indicating the title, authors & institutions. The lettering for this section should be not less than 2.5cms (1 inch) high. Letters in the title should be at least 2.5cm high.
  3. You may wish to put your e-mail address onto the poster as an easy point of contact for interested viewers
  4. The material should be well labeled and legible from a distance of up to 2.5 meters. Lettering should be bold and at least 1cm (3/8 inch) high, on white, pale yellow or cream-colored non-glossy paper. Use 2.5cm margins. Avoid use of fancy fonts. Use upper and lowercase letters. Fonts such as Times New Roman and Arial are easier to read.
  5. Words should be spelled out, avoiding unfamiliar abbreviations
  6. The text, tables and graphics should look integrated. The same typeface should be used for all and ruled lines separating different types of information should be avoided.
  7. The area for sticking your poster will be no more than 120 cm in height by 90 cm. Do not exceed these size limits.
  8. The poster will have to be put up in the designated poster area and at the allotted slot.
  9. Though we shall provide help and equipment to put up the posters, do carry with you whatever material you deem necessary to put up your poster
  10. The poster should be put up by 4 pm on the 10 th August and shall remain on display till 4 pm on 11 th August 2019. Evaluation of the posters by the judges will be on 11 th August (Sunday), 11 am onwards, during which you will have to present to interact with the judges. In case you are not present, your paper will not be considered for the award.
  11. Sum of scores given by the judges will be used to prepare list and top three persons will be granted 1 first and 2 second positions in poster presentation.
